A Sacred Space: Finding Fellowship and Healing in Church
⛪ A Sacred Space: Finding Fellowship and Healing in Church ⛪
By Angel, Founder of AMC Rise and Thrive
Hello beautiful soul 💖
Today, I will be in church.
Now, let me be honest—it’s not something I do every single
Sunday. Not in the physical sense, anyway. But whenever I find myself in
Chicago, there’s one place I always make time for: my home church. A
sacred space, nestled in the heart of the city, that has come to mean so much
more to me than just a place of worship.
This church isn’t just a building. It’s a sanctuary.
It’s where I’ve cried freely, prayed deeply, and been spiritually refilled more
times than I can count.
It’s where my son is embraced exactly as he is—without judgment, without
limitation, with pure love.
And for that reason alone, this place holds a sacred corner of my heart.
🙏 A Word
Just for Me
There’s something extraordinary about the way the Pastor
preaches.
Every time I sit in that front row, I feel like the message
was written just for me. Not in a vague or general way—but like God spoke
directly to the Pastor and said, “This one is for Angel. She needs this today.”
His words aren’t flashy or overly rehearsed. They’re raw.
Real. Resonant. They echo across the sanctuary and somehow pierce straight
through the armor I sometimes forget I’m wearing.
I’ve cried in that space—not the polite,
dabbing-your-eyes kind of tears. No, I’m talking about soul-deep sobs. The kind
that come from finally feeling seen. From finally being held.
I don’t cry easily in public. That kind of vulnerability is
something I’ve typically reserved for solitude. But in that church, surrounded
by love and divine presence, I feel safe enough to let go. To release. To
surrender.
🤝 The
Power of Fellowship
For me, church isn’t about religion.
It’s not about checking a spiritual box or fulfilling an obligation.
It’s about fellowship.
It’s about being in a room full of people who carry their own
stories, their own burdens, their own praises—and yet still choose love. They
choose grace. They choose togetherness.
In this space, no one expects perfection.
There’s no whispering when you walk in late.
No judgment when your child needs a little extra love and patience.
It’s a place where people know me—really know me.
And still choose to stand beside me.
As a mother, especially one navigating unique challenges, this
kind of fellowship is rare and deeply healing. They don’t just accept my child.
They embrace him. Celebrate him. Include him.
There is immeasurable beauty in a space where you don’t have
to explain yourself to be understood.
💫 We All
Need a Safe Space
Whether you attend church every Sunday, only show up on Easter
and Christmas, or haven’t stepped foot in a sanctuary in years—it doesn’t
matter.
What does matter is this:
We all need a place where our spirit can breathe.
Where we can show up fully as ourselves—mess and all—and still feel loved.
For me, that place is this church in Chicago.
But for you? It might look different.
Your sacred space might be:
- A
circle of spiritual sisters.
- A
quiet patch of forest where you go to be still.
- A
cozy nook in your home with candles and journals.
- A
yoga mat at sunrise.
- Your
grandma’s kitchen table.
God meets us where we are.
And often, God sends others to meet us there too.
🌿 A Final
Thought
If you’ve been feeling untethered, unseen, or spiritually
dry—I want you to know you’re not alone.
And I gently encourage you: seek out your sacred space.
Let it be a place where you can exhale.
Where you don’t need to perform, prove, or pretend.
Where your spirit can rest, rise, and be restored.
And if you don’t know where to start, just ask. Pray. Speak
aloud your desire for connection. The Divine hears you.
If you’re ever curious about my church in Chicago and want to
know more, feel free to send me an email at amcriseandthrive@gmail.com.
I’m more than happy to share. Because fellowship—true, soul-deep fellowship—is
a blessing that deserves to be shared.

Affirmation of the Day
Take a deep breath, place your hand over your heart, and
repeat:
“I am safe, seen, and spiritually supported. I
release the need to be perfect and open my heart to divine fellowship and
unconditional love.”
📖
Scripture of the Day
“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with
them.”
— Matthew 18:20 (NIV)
This verse reminds us that the sacred isn’t in numbers or
grand buildings—it’s in presence.
When we gather in love and truth, God meets us right there.
With grace and gratitude,
Angel 🌷
