When Self-Care Is Just Brushing Your Teeth
🌿 When Self-Care Is Just Brushing Your Teeth
By Angel, Founder of AMC Rise and Thrive
Hello, friends.
It’s Friday—and we made it. That might seem like a small thing, but in the world we live in today, it's a milestone worthy of celebration. Whether your week was filled with peace or pressure, laughter or tears, rest or restlessness—you're here. And that in itself is something to be deeply proud of.
I want to take a moment to welcome any new readers to this sacred space. If this is your first time here, I’m so grateful our paths have crossed. AMC Rise and Thrive was created from my own personal healing journey—an offering of light, hope, and authenticity. If you’ve been here before, thank you for returning. I pray that what you find here continues to uplift, inspire, and remind you that you are never alone on your journey.
🌕 A Full Moon, A Full Heart
This week carried with it the radiant energy of the Strawberry Full Moon in Sagittarius. If you’re sensitive to cosmic shifts, you might’ve felt some emotional waves, sudden clarity, or even the nudge to release what no longer serves you. These moons are powerful reminders from the universe that we are always cycling, always transforming.
I personally completed a project I had been working on for two months. It took longer than I expected, and there were days I doubted myself, days I wanted to quit, and days when it just didn’t feel like I was making any progress. But I kept going, even if all I could do some days was just take one small step forward.
And now, it’s finished.
If you completed anything this week—a load of laundry, a tough conversation, a moment of stillness, or even just brushing your teeth when you were emotionally spent—please know: that counts. That matters. That is progress.
💫 Redefining Self-Care
Let’s talk about self-care—real, raw, accessible self-care.
In a world where “self-care” is often marketed as spa days, luxury retreats, or perfectly curated morning routines, I want to speak to those of us who are simply trying to hold it together. Sometimes, self-care isn’t a bubble bath or a face mask. Sometimes, it’s:
Brushing your teeth when you’re overwhelmed.
Getting out of bed even when depression wants to keep you there.
Saying “no” when you’ve always said “yes.”
Asking for help.
Drinking water instead of soda because your body asked for it.
Crying when you need to instead of holding it in.
Turning off your phone and tuning into yourself.
Sometimes, it’s not glamorous. Sometimes, it looks like choosing you in the smallest of ways—and that is more than enough.
Self-care is sacred. It is a form of honoring the divine within you. It’s not about achieving perfection. It’s about sustaining your energy, honoring your humanity, and remembering that your well-being matters.
🌱 Celebrate the Little Wins
I want you to take a moment right now and reflect on this past week. What did you do that felt like a win?
Maybe you had a hard conversation you’ve been putting off. Maybe you made a meal instead of skipping one. Maybe you opened your curtains and let the light in. Maybe you simply made it through another day.
Count it. Celebrate it. Acknowledge it.
We often wait for the big milestones to celebrate ourselves. But life is built in the small moments. The little choices. The daily effort. And every step—no matter how tiny—moves you forward.
🌈 Embrace Your Weird & Shine Your Light
You are not here to blend in.
You are not here to shrink, to dull your sparkle, or to make yourself smaller to fit into spaces that weren’t made for your light. You are here to stand tall in your uniqueness—to embrace your “weird,” your quirks, your sacred differences—and to radiate from that place of truth.
Your energy, your essence, your lived experiences—they matter. You matter. The world is better because you’re in it.
Please don’t let the weight of the world make you forget that.
💖 Your Invitation for the Weekend
This weekend, I invite you to practice gentle self-care. Don’t overthink it. Don’t complicate it. Just do something that nurtures your soul, even if it's small:
Step into the sun and let it warm your face.
Take a nap without guilt.
Journal a few words of gratitude.
Call someone who makes you laugh.
Meditate for 5 minutes.
Turn on your favorite song and dance it out.
And if none of that feels doable, that’s okay too. Just be with yourself. Offer compassion. Speak kindly. Breathe deeply. That is care. That is healing.
✨ Affirmation of the Week:
“Every small step I take is part of a greater healing. I honor myself for continuing, even when it’s hard.”
— Angel
📖 A Scripture to Hold Close:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
— Matthew 11:28 (NIV)
This verse has always brought me peace on heavy days. It’s a divine reminder that rest is not only allowed—it’s sacred. You don’t have to carry everything alone.
💌 A Final Thought
You made it through this week, and that is no small feat.
Whether you’re celebrating something big or simply catching your breath, know that you are doing beautifully. You are growing, evolving, and thriving—even if it doesn't always feel like it.
You are not behind. You are exactly where you're meant to be. Keep going, keep glowing, and most of all—keep choosing you.
Until next time,
🌸 Enjoy your weekend
