Finding Joy in the Simple Moments: Sun, Sand, Family, and the Sacred Beauty of Everyday Life

By Angel, Founder of AMC Rise and Thrive

Hello beautiful souls 🌊🤍

As the weekend comes to a close and another week begins, I truly hope you found at least a moment to breathe, to rest, or to accomplish something your heart or spirit needed.

Life moves so quickly, and sometimes we become so focused on responsibilities, healing, growth, and survival that we forget how deeply important simple joy really is.

So, before anything else, thank you for being here with me.

May your week ahead hold softness.
May it hold peace.
And may it hold unexpected moments of joy that remind you life is still beautiful.

Finding Joy in the Simple Moments: Sun, Sand, Family, and the Sacred Beauty of Everyday Life

There are some days that may not appear extraordinary from the outside looking in, yet when you truly pause and reflect, you realize they carry a quiet kind of sacredness.

The kind of sacredness that doesn’t always arrive through monumental breakthroughs or life-altering revelations...

But through sun on your skin.
Laughter in the air.
Sandy shoes.
Sore muscles.
Conversations with strangers.
And love woven through ordinary moments.

Today was one of those days.

My son and I spent the day soaking up the Florida sunshine, navigating through a crowded pool to carve out our own little pocket of peace in the middle of summer chaos.

And honestly?

There was something so beautiful about simply observing life happening around us.

Families laughing.
Children splashing.
People relaxing.
Memories being made in real time.

Sometimes, the world feels heavy.

But spaces like this remind me that beauty still exists all around us if we allow ourselves to notice it.

Somewhere between swimming, sunshine, and trying to keep up with my son’s seemingly endless supply of energy, I met a kind older couple visiting from the Northeast.

And moments like that always remind me how connected we truly are.

It’s amazing how brief interactions with strangers can leave warmth on your spirit.

Their patience and kindness toward my son—who can absolutely become slap-happy when his energy hits full speed—was such a refreshing reminder that compassion is alive and well.

Because let me tell you...

This child has enough energy to fuel an entire state. 😂

We swam laps.
We explored.
And after all of that?

He still wanted to walk 1.5 miles down the beach.

Meanwhile, I had enough wisdom to wear my running shoes because beachwalking in flip-flops feels like a betrayal to your joints once you’re no longer in your twenties. 😅

And yes...
My legs absolutely noticed.

But every step was worth it.

Because motherhood often means showing up in ways you might not naturally choose for yourself.

It means embracing exhaustion, adventure, and presence all at once.

And sometimes love simply whispers:

“Keep going.”

So I did.

Love Often Looks Like Showing Up Differently Than You Would for Yourself

As I walked that beach, I couldn’t help but think about how deeply I love my son.

Because if it were solely up to me?

I’d probably be curled up on the couch, wrapped in a blanket, completely immersed in a romance novel with zero intentions of moving. 😂📚

And honestly?

That’s part of joy too.

Sometimes joy is adventure.
Sometimes joy is motherhood.
Sometimes joy is stillness.
Sometimes joy is familiar comfort.

There is profound healing in knowing what genuinely brings you peace and allowing yourself to embrace it unapologetically.

For me, reading has always been one of those sacred comforts.

Not because it’s productive.
Not because it teaches me something life-changing every time.

But because it brings me joy.

And joy does not always need justification.

I recently returned to one of my favorite comfort series, Harmony by Stef Ann Holm.

Years ago, I accidentally picked up the final book first, unaware there were three books before it.

And let me tell you—I was HOOKED. (which is the name of the 2nd book hehe)

I stayed up all night reading, went to work exhausted, and literally took a nap in my car during lunch break because I was that invested.

In my early twenties, that level of recklessness was survivable. 😅

Now?

Absolutely not.

But revisiting those books still feels like reconnecting with an old friend.

Like watching your favorite comfort movie.
Like hearing a nostalgic song.
Like remembering a version of yourself you still carry.

And that matters.

Because sometimes healing isn’t found in constantly seeking what’s next.

Sometimes healing is found in returning to what reminds you of joy.

Joy Is Sacred — Even in Its Simplicity

One of the greatest lessons life continues teaching me is this:

Joy is not frivolous.

Joy is sacred.

Not forced positivity.
Not performative happiness.
Not pretending everything is perfect.

Real joy.

The kind found in:

  • Pool days with your child
  • Beach walks
  • Rainy day puzzles
  • Favorite books
  • Shared laughter
  • Meaningful traditions
  • Kind strangers

These moments may appear small, but often they are the very moments that anchor us.

In a world constantly pushing productivity, hustle, and pressure, protecting your joy becomes an act of spiritual rebellion.

Sometimes your soul does not need another breakthrough.

Sometimes it simply needs:

  • Rest
  • Play
  • Presence
  • Laughter
  • Sunshine
  • Familiarity

God meets us not only in miracles, but also in moments.

He is present:

  • In sunshine
  • In ocean breezes
  • In motherhood
  • In laughter
  • In stillness
  • In healing

Joy is not something to outgrow.

It is something to protect.

So if you’ve been waiting for permission to enjoy where you are right now—

This is your reminder:

You are allowed.

Protect your peace.
Nurture your joy.
Honor your aliveness.

Life Moves Quickly — Treasure What You Can While You Can

This trip also reminded me how quickly life passes.

Children grow.
Bodies age.
Energy changes.
Time moves.

And one day, what feels exhausting today may become a memory you long to revisit.

That thought alone is enough to ground me in gratitude.

Even when I’m tired.
Even when my legs ache.
Even when I’d rather be reading on the couch.

Because these are the moments that become memories.

The sandy feet.
The long walks.
The laughter.
The shared adventures.

These are chapters of life.

And often, the ordinary chapters become the most sacred.

Psalm 118:24 says:

“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

And truly—what a profound reminder.

No one is promised tomorrow.

We do not know how many sunsets, beach walks, laughter-filled afternoons, or quiet reading days we are guaranteed.

So why not cherish today?

Why not embrace what is here right now?

Why not fully live while you still can?

Enjoy today.
Love deeply.
Rest fully.
Laugh often.
Read the books.
Take the walk.
Do the puzzle.
Soak up the sun.

Your healing is not always found in intensity.

Sometimes, it is found in living.

Affirmations 🤍

  • I allow myself to embrace joy without guilt.
  • My life is filled with sacred ordinary moments.
  • I honor both adventure and rest.
  • I treasure the blessings present in today.
  • Joy is a divine part of my healing journey.

Bible Verse

“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalm 118:24

Today is a gift.

Not because it is perfect.
But because it is here.

Every breath, every laugh, every connection, every opportunity to love is sacred.

So, rejoice.
Not someday.

Today.

🎵 Song of the Day: “Walking on the Sun” by Smash Mouth

🎧 Listen here

This song carries more than nostalgia—it carries truth.

Beneath its upbeat sound is a deeper message about awareness, action, and living consciously.

Lines like:

“Put away the crack before the crack puts you away / You need to be there when your baby's old enough to relate”

Serve as a powerful reminder that self-destruction impacts generations.

We must care for ourselves so we can show up for those who depend on us.

And lyrics like:

“So don't delay, act now…”

Speak deeply to the danger of postponing life.

Sometimes we stay silent.
Sometimes we avoid change.
Sometimes we refuse to rock the boat.

But growth often requires courage.

This song reminds us:

Wake up.
Live now.
Choose intentionally.

Because life is too precious to sleepwalk through.

Final Thoughts 🌞

As this journey continues, I am choosing gratitude.

Gratitude for family.
Gratitude for movement.
Gratitude for books.
Gratitude for laughter.
Gratitude for healing.
Gratitude for joy.

To every soul reading this:

No matter what season you are in, may you find beauty in the ordinary.

May you protect what brings you peace.
May you cherish your loved ones.
May you return to what lights your spirit up.
May you remember that your life does not have to be extraordinary to be meaningful.

Sometimes the holiest moments are the simplest ones.

Stay in your joy whenever you can find it.

It is not trivial.

It is medicine.
