Time, Treasure, and the Joy of Simple Moments
Time, Treasure, and the Joy of Simple Moments
By Angel, Founder of AMC Rise and Thrive
Hello beautiful souls 🤍✨
I’m so grateful you’re here.
There’s something special about slowing down long enough to
reflect on the moments we often rush past. The ones that don’t always seem
significant at first—but when you sit with them, you realize they hold so much
more than you expected.
Today, I want to share a piece of my heart from a recent
experience… something simple on the surface, yet quietly meaningful underneath.
Because sometimes, it’s not the big, life-changing events that
shift something in us…
It’s the everyday moments.
The unexpected detours.
The little joys we didn’t plan—but somehow needed.
And maybe, just maybe…
this message will meet you in one of those moments too. 🤍
When Time Moves Differently ✨
Have you ever noticed how time feels different depending on
where you are in life?
When you’re waiting for something… it drags.
When you’re overwhelmed… it rushes.
When you’re present… it almost disappears.
I’ve been in Chicago for almost a week now… and somehow, it
feels like I just got here.
It’s one of those experiences where you pause and think,
“Wait… where did the time go?”
Because in that time, I’ve done quite a bit:
I went to see The Wiz 🎭
Got my hair done
Did some shopping
Ate some really good food
Went to church
Watched a few movies
And yet…
It still feels like only a couple of days have passed.
And I think part of that is because when you’re in a space
where you can just be—without pressure, without rushing, without
constantly thinking about what’s next—time takes on a different rhythm.
It softens.
It flows.
It becomes less about counting hours… and more about experiencing moments.
And there is something so healing about that.
Because we don’t often give ourselves permission to do “a lot
of nothing.”
But sometimes, that’s exactly what we need.
Not constant productivity.
Not constant movement.
Just space.
To breathe.
To exist.
To live without rushing through it.
And maybe that’s why it feels like time moves so fast—
because for once, you’re not resisting it.
You’re simply allowing it. 🤍
The Beauty in Unexpected Detours 🌿
Now, let me tell you… not everything went according to plan.
And honestly?
That’s where some of the best moments came from.
Before coming here, I had a plan for my hair. I was trying to
get the green out before getting highlights. I thought I had it figured out.
But it didn’t work the way I expected.
In fact… the color correction made it more green.
Yes—more green. 😅
So, what did I have to do?
Bleach my entire head.
Definitely not part of the original plan.
But here’s the interesting part…
That unexpected situation led me to discover something I
probably wouldn’t have found otherwise.
A store on Cicero Ave called SamsBeauty Warehouse.
And listen…
If you love a good deal like I do… this place felt like a
hidden gem.
I’m usually a Sally Beauty kind of person. That’s been my
go-to.
But this store?
Completely different experience.
The same bleach I use—normally around $38.50 online—was there
for $15.00.
A gallon of developer? $10.00.
Wigs? Affordable and actually nice.
And if you know me…
I love a good deal.
Not just casually.
I mean love.
Because I don’t just look at what I spend…
I look at what I save.
That shift in perspective?
It changes everything.
And honestly, it felt like a reminder in its own way—
That sometimes what doesn’t go as planned…
leads you exactly where you need to be. 🌿
Finding Joy in the Little Things 💫
There’s another place I visited that brought me so much
unexpected joy.
A store called Black Friday Store.
Now this place?
It’s an experience.
Each day of the week, everything is a different price. And the
day I went?
Monday.
Which means everything was $2.00.
Yes… $2.00.
And let me tell you—I was in my element.
I ended up buying about 100 items and spent $223 with taxes.
But here’s the thing…
Those items?
Some of them normally cost:
$9.00 exfoliators (I bought 30)
$25.00 eye creams (I got 12)
$15.00 face washes
So again…
It’s not about how much I spent.
It’s about how much I saved.
And beyond that—it was fun.
Like a treasure hunt.
Some items were a miss…
Some were absolute gems.
And you had to take your time.
Look things up.
Be intentional.
It wasn’t just shopping.
It was an experience.
And while some people might look at that and think,
“It’s not that big of a deal…”
For me?
It brought genuine joy.
The kind of joy that doesn’t need to be explained.
The kind that just is.
And I think that’s something we sometimes overlook—
Joy doesn’t have to be big to be real.
It doesn’t have to impress anyone.
It doesn’t have to make sense to anyone else.
If it lights you up…
If it makes you smile…
If it gives you a moment of peace or excitement…
Then it matters.
Because those small moments?
They add up.
They ground you.
They remind you that life isn’t just about responsibilities and stress.
There is still room for lightness.
For fun.
For unexpected happiness.
Even in the middle of everything else. 🤍✨
Affirmations for Presence and Joy 🤍✨
Take a moment, breathe deeply, and allow these words to settle
within you:
• I allow myself to enjoy the present moment fully.
• I find joy in simple, everyday experiences.
• I trust that even unexpected moments are guiding me somewhere meaningful.
• I release the need for everything to go according to plan.
• I welcome peace, presence, and gratitude into my life.
• I honor the small moments that bring me happiness.
Bible Verse 🤍
“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be
glad in it.”
— Psalm 118:24
There is such a beautiful simplicity in this verse.
It doesn’t say…
“Rejoice only when everything is perfect.”
“Be glad only when life goes according to plan.”
It simply reminds us:
This day—right here, right now—is a gift.
And within it, there is always something to be grateful for.
Even if it’s small.
Even if it’s unexpected.
Even if it looks different than you imagined. 🤍
🎵 Song of
the Day 🎶
“Good Life” by OneRepublic (Explicit)
This song captures the feeling of stepping outside of routine
and simply experiencing life as it comes.
It speaks to those moments where time feels a little
different… where you’re not overly focused on the future or stuck in the
past—you’re just present.
“It’s been a really, really messed up week…
Seven days of torture, seven days of bitter…”
And yet…
“This is gonna be a good life.”
That contrast is powerful.
Because it reminds us that even in the middle of imperfect
situations…
there is still goodness to be found.
Still moments to appreciate.
Still experiences that bring light.
It’s not about everything being perfect.
It’s about recognizing the beauty within what is. 🤍🎶
Final Thoughts 🤍✨
If there’s one thing I hope you take with you from today, it’s
this:
Life is not just found in the big moments.
It’s in the small ones too.
In the unexpected detours.
In the simple joys.
In the quiet experiences that don’t always seem significant—but stay with you
anyway.
Time will move the way it moves.
Fast sometimes.
Slow other times.
But what matters most…
is how present you are within it.
So allow yourself to enjoy the moment you’re in.
Even if it’s not perfect.
Even if it didn’t go as planned.
Because there is beauty there.
There is purpose there.
And sometimes…
there is joy waiting in places you didn’t even think to look.
With you in every moment of presence,
in every unexpected blessing,
and in every small joy that makes life feel a little lighter…
