Rolling With the Punches: Finding Strength When Everything Hits at Once

Rolling With the Punches: Finding Strength When Everything Hits at Once

By Angel, Founder of AMC Rise and Thrive

Hello beautiful souls 🤍✨

Today, I’m showing up a little tired… a little stretched… but still standing.

You ever have one of those days where it feels like everything that could happen… does? Where your plans shift, your energy gets tested, and life just keeps throwing one thing after another your way?

Yeah… today was one of those days.

And while I could sit here and focus on everything that went wrong, what I’m realizing—slowly, imperfectly—is that sometimes the lesson isn’t about controlling what happens.

It’s about learning how to move through it.

To bend without breaking.
To adjust without giving up.
To keep going… even when you’re exhausted.

Because some days aren’t about thriving in the way we imagine.
Some days are about surviving with grace.
🌿

When Life Doesn’t Go According to Plan 🚗✨

It started with something simple—a doctor’s appointment for my mom.

I had written it down weeks ago. Thought I had it all handled. Thought I knew exactly what time we needed to be there.

But life said, “Let’s double check that.”

And when I did?
That 10:45 a.m. appointment I thought I had planned for… was actually at 7:30 a.m.

That’s not a small difference. That’s a whole shift-your-entire-day kind of difference.

So immediately, I had to pivot. Change plans. Adjust everything.

I went to pick my mom up the night before so we could leave from my house and avoid the morning rush. That felt like the right move. Smooth. Thought-out.

But then… as I got on the highway… my SUV started sputtering.

Check engine light.
Cylinder misfire.
Codes on cylinders 3 and 4.

And in that moment, all I could think was:
“Really? Right now?”

Because I’m leaving in two days for a road trip. And this was the last thing I needed.

But here’s the thing about moments like that…
You don’t always get time to panic.

Sometimes you just move.

I stopped, got spark plugs, went home, got my son in the shower, and waited for the engine to cool.

And yes… I’m that woman. The one out there at 10 p.m., working on her car in the dark. 💪🏽

Because when life hands you something, sometimes you just handle it.

Even when you’re tired.
Even when it’s inconvenient.
Even when it wasn’t part of the plan.

That’s resilience in motion.

The Unexpected Layers of “One Thing After Another” 🌙

But of course… it didn’t stop there.

The spark plug I tried to change?
Wrong one.

Which meant more time. More effort. More problem-solving.

And with a newer vehicle, not every part is easy to find unless you go straight to the dealership—which also means more money.

Still, I kept going.

Handled the appointment. Ran errands. Got the correct parts. Came home and replaced all four spark plugs.

And when I saw them?
I knew I was right.

They were worn down way more than they should have been. Something was off—but it got handled.

Car started.
Codes cleared.
Engine running smooth.

And in that moment, I felt a small wave of relief.

Because even though it wasn’t easy… it was fixed.

But the day still wasn’t done.

On top of everything else, I’ve been trying to fix my hair situation before getting it highlighted. Back in January, I colored it bright blue thinking it would fade out easily.

It didn’t.

It held on… and shifted into green.

So now I’m over here doing a peroxide and baking soda treatment, scrubbing, washing, trying to get it where it needs to be.

And by the time I finished all of that?
It was almost 2 a.m.

Finally laid down…

And 30 minutes later… my son got sick.

And not just a little sick.

Full clean-the-carpet, clean-him-up, middle-of-the-night kind of sick.

So, there I was, exhausted, cleaning up again, finishing around 3 a.m., knowing I still had to be up at 6 a.m. to call the school.

And in that moment…

I won’t lie.

I was tired.

Not just physically…
but mentally too.

Because when things stack up like that, it can feel overwhelming.

But here’s where something shifted.

Choosing Perspective When You’re Running on Empty 🌿✨

Somewhere between the exhaustion and the responsibility, I had a choice.

I could let the day defeat me…
or I could look for what went right.

And I’ll be honest—it wasn’t automatic. It took effort. It took intention.

But when I slowed down and looked closer, I realized:

The car broke down… but it happened close to home.
I had the tools and knowledge to fix it.

My son got sick… but it was only once.
He felt better after.

My hair?
Not perfect—but closer than it was before.

And in two days… I’ll be at my dad’s.

I’ll be able to rest.
To breathe.
To release everything I’ve been holding.

And sometimes… that’s what keeps you going.

Not perfection.
Not ease.
But perspective.

Because life will always have moments where everything feels like “too much.”

But there is power in reminding yourself:
“I’m still moving forward.”

Even if it’s messy.
Even if it’s exhausting.
Even if it doesn’t look pretty.

You’re still making progress.

And sometimes, that quiet perseverance is the strongest thing you can do. 💛

Affirmations for Strength, Flexibility, and Grace 🤍✨

Take a deep breath and let these words meet you where you are:

• I am capable of handling what comes my way.
• I give myself grace on hard days.
• I trust my ability to adapt and overcome.
• Even when things feel overwhelming, I am still moving forward.
• I choose to see the good, even in difficult moments.
• God strengthens me when I feel weak.

Bible Verse 🤍

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
— Philippians 4:13

This verse isn’t about having unlimited energy or never feeling tired.

It’s about knowing that even when you feel like you’ve reached your limit…
you’re not carrying everything on your own.

God meets you in your exhaustion.
He strengthens you in your weakness.
He carries what you can’t.

So on days like today—when everything feels stacked against you—
remember:

You are supported.
You are sustained.
You are not alone.
🤍

🎵 Song of the Day 🎶

“Almost There” by Anika Noni Rose (The Princess and the Frog)

🎧 Listen here

This song feels like the perfect reflection of today.

At its heart, it speaks about perseverance. About continuing forward despite obstacles, distractions, and setbacks. It’s about staying focused on where you’re going—even when the journey gets hard.

The message is simple but powerful:

You’ve had your trials.
You’ve faced challenges.
But you’re still moving forward.

Closer than you were yesterday.

And that’s exactly how today felt.

Not perfect.
Not easy.
But progress.

Because even in the chaos…
even in the exhaustion…
I’m still moving toward something better.

And so are you. 🤍

Final Thoughts 🤍✨

Some days are smooth.
Some days are soft.

And then there are days like this—
where everything happens at once.

Where you’re tested.
Stretched.
Pushed to your limits.

But even in those moments…

You’re stronger than you think.

You adapt.
You problem-solve.
You keep going.

And even when you feel like all you want to do is lay down and rest…
you find a way to take the next step.

So, if today—or any day—feels overwhelming…

Take a breath.
Give yourself grace.
And remind yourself:

You’re doing the best you can.

And that is enough.

With you in every moment of strength, struggle, and quiet perseverance,
Angel
